Rainbow Walking Water Science Experiment for Kids- paper towel science experiment prezi ,How this Science Experiment Works. The water moves up the paper towels through a process called capillary action. The paper towel is made from fibers and the water is able to travel through the gaps in the fibers. The gaps in the paper towel act like capillary tubes and pull the water upward.Fastest Way to Cool a Soda | Science project | EducationPlace your first can in the freezer. Wrap the wet paper towel around your second can and place it in the freezer. Place another can in the salted ice-water bath. Check the cans’ temperatures again after 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes. This SWAY is a sample science fair project based on the classic elementary project: What is the best paper towel? Can a student use SWAY to present their science project (or any project for that matter)? The pictures/text and graphs here are samples and do not represent an actual project. However, you should look at it as a sample of what students COULD do to present their projects.

This rainbow science experiment is as magic as the science behind it. The colored water travels up the paper towel by a process called capillary action. Capillary action is the ability of a liquid to flow upward, against gravity, in narrow spaces. This is the same thing that helps water climb from a plant’s roots to the leaves in the tree tops.
Limitations: Some of the limitations I encountered while going through with this experiment were the amount of water squeezed out of the paper towel and the amount of time the paper towel was given to absorb the water. When squeezing out the water from the different towel brands onto the 250 mL beaker, not of all the water is squeezed out some is still left either on the towel or your hand.
